Gather the Ishrann! Arm the Akhelians! Unleash the Thralls! Its time for another raid to be unleashed from the depths of the mortal realms.

What eldritch abomination do they bring this time? A killer crab? A Sharknado? Why no it's me, hobby nerd and huge problem to a sane society, Hazel Moon.

Welcome to my first ever post on my new blog Teachings of the Túrscoll. A place for discussion of my experiences playing Idoneth Deepkin on the competitive scene in the UK and for general tips, tricks and debates on how to get the most out of your soul hungry fish aelves.

First a disclaimer! Although I've been playing Idoneth Deepkin as my main army since their release in 2018, I only attended my first 2 day 5 game event earlier this year. I can't make any claim to be a seasoned veteran or to be talking from a place of authority. What I can do is share my perspectives, lessons and stories as I aim to become an Idoneth player of renown. Given I managed a 4-1 at my second ever event I am hopeful that my reaching for the stars isn't an impossible dream.

The other point I should mention is that I'm a woman. So far I've been the only woman at the events I've been to. That is going to affect my perspective and some of the content on here might touch more directly on my unique experiences and difficulties being a minority in the hobby. I'm hopeful that in doing so and trying to raise my profile we might see more women, girls and non binary people getting involved.

With all that said... What comes next? Well we're entering a new season and I've got plenty of events coming up. I'll be at the South Coast Grand Series, Clash 22 and War in the Mortal Realms during July. You can expect detailed analysis of games, for better or worse, from all these events.

I'm also going to be putting up a piece on my learnings from the first 2 day events I attended, Rum and Rumble at the TSN arena and The Sunshine Coast Open last month.

But before that I'm hoping to publish our first Idoneth Unit analysis this weekend. We'll be looking at a unit which has seen a lot of play in AoS 3.0, Nemarti Reavers. Talking about why they've seen play, what makes them good and how to get the best out of the unit during your games.

I hope to see you all soon!

Hazel
